Getting to know my group

In our first session we were put into our groups. We then joined a call all together and began brainstorming ideas. In my group sadly only 2 members were online but we all get one well and had some good ideas

After introductions we decided to share all of our strengths and preferred areas of design. This allowed us to get to know each other as well as give us an idea of possible outcomes that we could create.

I then created a collaborative google slide document and I entered all of our individual skills.

Here are a couple of examples of how I laid out our skills:

After getting together a list of everybody's skills I then made a slide which showcases skills at least 2 of us have, as well as skills which are owned by just one member.

The idea of doing this was to show what areas we would have the most strength in when it comes to developing work. By figuring out areas of skill that we all share this helps us to choose a design style which we all will be able to contribute work to. For example, Me, Annie and Manny all like minimal design, therefore we’re likely to produce work which is minimal.

Then on the other-side of that, by showcasing skills which only one member holds, means we get an idea of areas we could go into, we would now have confidence that someone in our group would be capable of bringing certain elements to life. For example: Manny can produce motion graphics, where as myself and Annie don’t know how to. Therefore we now know if we wanted to include a piece of motion graphics, Manny would be able to produce some for us.
